Build the Meeting People Remember

Stop Running Meetings That Feel Like Group Emails

If your staff meeting could have been a memo, it shouldn’t have been a meeting. Too many All-Staff gatherings fall into two ditches:

  1. Hyper-tactical updates that drain energy

  2. Vague inspiration that creates emotion but no clarity

Healthy meetings blend clarity and connection.

They:

  • Celebrate wins publicly

  • Give visibility across departments

  • Tie initiatives to the mission

  • Create one moment of shared reflection

  • End with direction

People don’t need longer meetings. They need intentional ones. A strong meeting answers three questions:

  • What are we building?

  • How are we doing?

  • What matters next?

If your team can answer those clearly, alignment strengthens.

Application:

Audit your current meeting structure:

  • Where does energy dip?

  • Where is clarity lost?

  • Are people hearing from each other across departments?

Make small changes. Rhythm builds trust.

Ask Yourself:

  • Are we creating connection or just sharing information?

  • Do people leave encouraged?

  • Does the meeting reinforce culture or dilute it?

Meetings aren’t filler. They’re formation.
